Eide Bailly Executive Search has been retained by Providence Medical Center (PMC) located in Wayne, NE to recruit it’s next Chief Financial Officer (CFO).  Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the CFO is a member of the senior leadership team. 

 

ORGANIZATION

For more than 40 years, PMC has been recognized as a leader in providing extraordinary rural healthcare to individuals in Northeast Nebraska.  PMC’s mission is to provide quality healthcare in the spirit of Christ, and its vision is to be Northeast Nebraska’s hospital and employer of choice. PMC, employing more than 200 generated approximately $30 million in total operating revenue in 2023, an increase of almost $2 million from the previous year.  PMC is one of the largest employers in Wayne and the surrounding area. 

 

In April 2021 PMC broke ground on a $16 million two-phase renovation and expansion project.  The project will add 20,000 square feet to the existing facility, and another 20,000 will be renovated.  In addition, PMC completed a 30,000 square foot addition and remodel in 2018.  Phase one was completed in October 2023, the 2nd phase is anticipated to be completed in 2024 which includes the remodel of an operating and procedure room, the addition of a second operating room, and relocation of larger pre-operative care and post-surgical recovery bays. 

 

PMC has received numerous national recognitions for providing high-quality services, making it the clear choice for more than 30,000 residents across four counties.  In 2023, PMC received the Women’s Choice Award (Best Hospital for OB & Outpatient Experience) for the 3rd year in a row and received four awards during the CLS annual Healthcare Service Excellence Conference in November. 

 

PMC offers 21 spacious patient rooms, including 2 OB suites, 2 Critical Care rooms, and 1 hospice family room.  The organization also offers 31 unique specialty services.  Compared to 2022, in 2023 PMC delivered more babies, increased surgical procedures, increased imaging procedures, increased lab tests, increased total therapy visits, increased pharmacy units, increased outpatient registrations, increased specialty clinic visits, and saw increased volumes in almost every other department within the organization.

 

THE COMMUNITY

Wayne, NE, located 90 miles northeast of Omaha, NE has approximately 6000 residents.  Wayne is home to Wayne State College, an undergraduate and graduate public university, with approximately 4200 students from 38 states and 44 countries.  Wayne has a robust business environment, with 323 different businesses supported by the Wayne Area Economic Development.  The community has a robust education and childcare footprint, including several preschools, and both public and private schools.  Wayne has ample cultural and recreation opportunities to include but not limited to college athletics, fine arts, annual festivals, golf, swimming, camping, boating, fishing, hunting, and is located less than 90 minutes from two major airports.  The community is also home to 14 different churches.  

Responsibilities

The CFO is the senior executive role that manages, monitors, and reports financial outcomes of PMC.  This role works in partnership with other administrative leaders to develop and deliver strategy to achieve high quality patient outcomes.  Ultimate responsibility for execution of the financial strategy lies with the CFO.  The CFO is also responsible for determining and formulating policies and provides overall direction of the accounting, finance, and business operations, health information management and materials management. 

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field.
  • Masters and CPA preferred 

Experience

 

Five years of progressive management experience in finance or accounting, preferably in a healthcare environment. Experience in a Critical Access Hospital ideal.
